#4 Cubic Clarity - Detached House with Authentic Materials in Esslingen
In this episode, we take you to Esslingen am Neckar, where a cubic single-family home stands on a hillside. Designed by Christoph Höhne of Höhne Architekten in Stuttgart, this building combines simple construction principles with the deliberate use of authentic materials. A particular feature is the exposed brick walls of lime-sandstone in the living area, which serve both a load-bearing function and aesthetic accents.
We speak with Christoph Höhne about the challenges and inspirations associated with the construction of this house, and discuss how the project embodies the philosophy of material-appropriate building.
Expert in this episode: Christoph Höhne – Freelance Architect and Managing Partner of Höhne Architekten in Stuttgart
