#6 Peace in the Space - Soundproofing in the Rheinquartier Lahnstein
In this episode, we take you to Lahnstein near Koblenz, where the Rheinquartier has been developed on the grounds of an old freight train station. In the idyllic Upper Middle Rhine Valley, new construction projects present planners with particular challenges: Noise pollution from nearby train, road, and ship traffic makes effective soundproofing essential. A detailed noise study is therefore fundamental to the Rheinquartier development plan, which mandates a reflection loss of at least 8 decibels. For the multi-story residential building LC Livin, designed and built by MPLUS Architekten, Kalzip’s FC facade system was used. This was further developed into a soundproof facade, achieving sound absorption of 6 to 20 dB.
