#11 Churches in Transition – New Perspectives for Sacred Buildings
In this episode of Architektourist, we focus on the current exhibition “Churches as Fourth Places – Perspectives of Change” at the Heilig-Geist-Kirche in Essen-Katernberg, which explores the transformation of church buildings into new social meeting spaces. The starting point for this discussion is the urgency with which we must address the challenges facing the church landscape in Germany, as many church buildings are increasingly empty and traditional community life is declining. In conversation with Felix Hemmers, the curator of the exhibition, we explore the multitude of possibilities offered by the reuse of these significant architectural structures.
